Ellie's Day at School is a book I wrote and illustrated about a deaf girl named Ellie.
In the book, it walks through her day at school and the challenges she faces as a child who wears hearing aids.
I illustrated a number of normal scenario's for a school day, such as assembly's, playing in the playground, doing school work. All things that are moderately the same for all children, however as the book reveals, these things are made much harder by Ellie's inability to hear the world around her. She misses context and that leads to her being isolated from her peers.
But on the next page, there is always a solution to the problem, a way to show kids that you are not alone or unsupported in school.

I wanted this book to encourage children to feel comfortable in their new surrounding, as it's aimed at children moving up into school. Ideally parents would read this to their children to make them feel less afraid and to find a point of relation between the book and themselves.
